I do not view dagor dagorath as the end...it would only be the end of Arda as we know it if there was a massive nuclear war or the Sun went supernova and destroyed the Earth. There have been Native American prophecies of the Great Purification which will restore balance..Here is something from the Star Ledger which is very interesting concerning coastal life:
From Wednesday Nov. 16 paper
"Global Warming could mean end of coastal life as we know it
(Princeton study says drinking water, ecosystem, even NJ's land mass could be affected)
by Alexander Lane
A warmed and swollen Atlantic Ocean could swallow 1 to 3 percent of New Jersey by the end of the century, according to a new Princeton University study billed as the first comprehensive look at what global warming could do to the Jersey Shore.
It could devastate life on the coast, bringing 100 year floods every five years, spoil drinking water as far upriver as Philadelphia and squeeze our dozens of animal species, according to the report.
Coping with rising seas could require dramatic measures in coming decades, like forcing beachfront property owners to surrender their land rather than build sea walls or bulkheads, the authors said.
"Action needs to be taken immediately and at many levels," concluded the authors led by Michael Oppenheimer, a professor of geosciences and international affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs.
The study , which is to be released to the public today, has not yet been published in a peer-reviewed journal. But Oppenheimer, one of the nation's foremost global-warming experts, said he was preparing it for publication.
"I decided it would be interesting and useful to apply my research in my own backyard, " he said in a telephone interview yesterday. " I dont think theres ever been a comprehensive study of the vulnerability of the New Jersey coast."
Global warming raises sea levels by expanding ocean water and melting glaciers and ice sheets. New Jersey has more to fear from this phenomenon than most other coastal states, the report concluded.
This is partly due to its low coastal plains, salt marshes...."
It goes on and on but this is the main gist of it....
Maybe I should move
