I am the wind upon the sea I am the wave upon the ocean I am the murmur of the strand I am a stag of seven points I am a bull of seven battles I am a hawk upon the cliff I am a ray from the sun I am the fairest of flowers I am a valiant wild boar Iam a salmon in the pool I am a lake on the plain I am the skill of the craftmsman I am the word of knowledge I amthe spoil-seeking spear of battle I am the god that fashions fire in the land Who but I spreads light in the assembly upon the mountains? Who but I can tell the ages of the moon? Who but I knows where the sun rest? On whom do the cattle of tethra smile? Who but I knows the resolution of battle, the wind upon the sea And the sercets of the unhewn dolmen arch? I am druid
This was writtin on the druid Path forum by a Druid named Thunder. This Describes how a druid Feels and what the path itself is all about. Too Simmilar to the Eldar and sometimes I wonder were most Druids the Elves?

Is this a group affiliated with the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids? I find the OBOD to have the most accurate info..... Anyway I too enjoy the verses composed by Amergin that you have posted that the one named Thunder got it from... One word of advice : do not generalize so much....If the druid path was the elvenpath there would be no reason to do the work we are doing. Rather they are parallel paths that share the same core beliefs, and the fact that they are based on harmony with nature and with the Source of All things (Eru), but their applications, methods, and the way the path is walked differs quite a bit. You will see this as the work goes on. If the crow and the raven are similar in appearance and in function does that make them the same bird? And in such a fashion the Druid and elven paths are similar and quite different.
This is not meant to offend or berate your obervations, but this is something that must be cleared up for it can cause much confusion as the work progresses.

Actually the way the above verse was written was a little different from the way Amergin wrote it.. Here it is (From the Book of Druidry by Ross Nichols):
Spirit I AM the Wind that blows over the sea I AM the Wave of the Ocean; I AM the Murmur of the billows; I AM the Ox of the Seven Combats; I AM the vulture upon the rock; I AM a Ray of the Sun; I AM the fairest of Plants; I AM a Wild Boar in valour; I AM a Salmon in the Water; I AM a Lake in the plain; I AM the Craft of the artificer; I AM a Word of Science; I AM the spear-point that gives battle; I AM the god that creates in the head of man the fire of thought. Who is it that enlightens the assembly upon the mountain, if not I? Who telleth the ages of the moon, if not I? Who showeth the place where the sun goes to rest if not I? -Uttered by Amergin, as he visited Eire
There are several variations of the Song of Amergin recorded ,as translated by several translators .... Oh and a word of warning : There is a book out there called "The Lost Books of Merlin" by Douglas Monroe that purports to be authentic Druidry. IT IS NOT!!!! You may find reviews composed by various Druids and members of the OBOD for more info on the Net. Enjoy!
