Sindar- Grey Elves ones who turned back from the Great Jurney. They went in search of their king Thingol. When searching they found him with Melian the Maia. Soon she was his Queen anf founded the Realm berielend. Grey Elves are called such because Thingols Kin had greyish Silver hair. Most Sindar resemble the Noldor.
Vanyar- The First Elves to Sail West to Aman. The Blessed Realm. They all heeded the summons of the Valar non of them returned to Middle earth. They Dwell under the house of manwe.
Noldor. The Exiled. They are concidered the Wisest and most Noble of the Elves. The most remebered Noldor is Feanor. Famious for the Silmarils and their making. The Noldor are reknowned for their jewel smiths and making of the Rings of Power. When the Silmarils were stolen by Melkor, Feanor sworn an Oath to regain them but was Slain later by the lord of the Bolrogs. Before this feanor and his sons were convinced by Melkor not to trust the Valar and they rebelled. They then went to the Terleri (Sea elves) and tryed to get their ships. The Terleri not trusting the Noldor, Refused. This resulted in the War of elves the Kinslaying. Feanor and other Noldor burned the ships and slain most of the teleri and many Noldor lives were lost as well. After taking the ships back to Middle earth, Feanor and the Noldor were banned from returning to valinor. Save galadriel from refusing the One Ring and a few other Noldor after proving themself ( I think)
Teleri- Sea Elves they also turned back and loved the shores very much later they became the Lindar the Singers. Sindar are decended from the Teleri.
Nandor or Laiquendi- Green Elves ones who also turned back. They dwelled in the mountins with the Dwarves.
The Sidh- The Remaning way after the 4th age some elves still remained in Middle earth but later instead of Sailing to Valinor they sailed to what is Ireland today thus resulting in the tauth De dannon and other celtic myths. Some Also sailed to North America.
