Eönwë Meaning: not known, but he is called The Herald of Manwë

Eönwë is one of the most mighty of the Maiar whose might in arms is surpassed by none in Arda. He is the herald and banner bearer of Manwë, the elder king. Eönwë it was who spoke first to Eärendil in the deserted city of Tirion summoning him to come before the Valar in Valimar.
He led the hosts of the West during the War of Wrath and after their victory, he took the silmarils from Morgoth1s crown, telling the sons of Fëanor that their right to the jewels had perished because of their many evil deeds. Eönwë did not permit the slaying of Maglor and Maedhros when they then stole the silmarils.
Eönwë then summoned all the Elves to depart with him from Middle-earth and also came amongst the Three Houses of the Elf-friends, the Edain, teaching them great wisdom.
